Una Schäfer

Una U. Schäfer received her degree in Archaeology and Cultural Theory and History from the Humboldt-Universität in 2012 with a thesis titled »Leichen im Sarge vor Entwendung zu sichern. Vom Umgang mit dem menschlichen Körper nach seinem Tod. Großbritannien, 1800–1850« (Securing Corpses from Grave-Robbing. On dealings with the human body after death. Great Britain, 1800-1850).

She continued her studies with the Master’s program in Cultural Theory and History, concentrating on pratice-oriented research and instruction, exhibition practices, as well as the digital humanities. In her thesis she investigated approaches to and the creation of uncertainty in archaeological virtual models.

She began working in the Cluster of Excellence »Image Knowledge Gestaltung« as a student assistant in 2013, principally in the project »Analogue Storage«. Early this year, she transitioned to Associated Member of the Cluster through a research scholarship, and in July she will be joining the project »Analogue Storage II« as a scientific investigator. She will assist the project’s virtual renderings of the Forum Romanum and the Athenian Agora based on interdisciplinary research.
