Johanna Schiffler

Interdisciplinary Laboratory

Johanna Schiffler studied History of Art and Modern German Literature at EHESS (School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences) in Paris and at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. In her Master’s thesis she examined the drawings of Victor Hugo as influenced by ancient image theory and the natural philosophy of Lukrez. Her dissertation on landscape painting in the period around 1900 deals with concepts of space in psychophysiology and aesthetics. Since 2011 she has been a member of the research training group »Picture Act and Embodiment«.  She has been a scholarship holder in the Interdisciplinary Laboratory since April 2014. She is working on the project »Picture Act« and is a member of the research project »Ikonische Formprozesse. Ein missing link zwischen Kultur- und Naturtheorie« supported by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation.
