Denny Chakkalakal studied European Ethnology and Philosophy at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the Freie Universität Berlin. As a member of the scientific personnel at the Institute for Public Health of the Charité in Berlin, he worked with interdisciplinary methods used in oncological treatment in Germany, and is currently conducting his doctoral studies on this subject. Most recently he was head and manager of a project in the Foundation for Men’s Health. His research focuses on Medical Anthropology as well as Science and Technology Studies.

Denny Chakkalakal will be responsible for the development and application of medical-ethnographic instruments and study design for ambulatory and clinical research settings in the project »Empathy«. He will also be assisting in the managerial aspects of the project, working on the intersections between the disciplines of Medicine; Cultural, Image and Media Sciences; Computer Science; and Gestaltung. Additionally, he will be developing methods for market and patient-need analysis for patient-oriented tools, and develop cooperations with medical training and research institutes.
