Claudia Müller-Birn has been a Junior Professor of Web Science/Human-centred Computing at the Institute of Computer Science, Freie Universität Berlin, since 2012.

From 2010 to 2012 she was a Guest Professor of the research group »Networked Information Systems«, Institute of Computer Science, Freie Universität Berlin, and from 2009 to 2010 a postdoc at the research group »Coordination, Technology and Distributed Work«, Institute for Software Research, Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science, Pittsburgh. In 2008 she completed a doctorate on »Graph theoretical analysis of wiki-based networks for self-organized knowledge management«.

Her research involves an investigation into how human cognitive abilities can be combined with artificial intelligence to expand the range of current processes of knowledge generation in online communities. She is especially interested in modelling, analysing and evaluating user behaviours in order to provide individualised services.
