Claudia Matthies completed a diploma in Psychology at the University of Leipzig. She was a research assistant at the University Medical Centre, Hamburg Eppendorf and became interested in the interface between psychology and dentistry. Since May 2012 she has been a research assistant at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin where she investigates the development of mathematical concepts in primary school children.

Her fields of activity in the project are preparing, carrying out and evaluating interviews, closed interrogations and experiments on two research questions. She investigates how knowledge structures on theory of science issues change over time through interdisciplinary co-operation. Furthermore, she is interested in the perception and interpretation of data graphics.
