Carolin Ott studied Art History, Classical Archaeology and Italian Studies at the Freie Universität Berlin and the University of Bologna. She worked as a Research Associate on the development of Sandrart.net, an online research platform for 17th-century art and cultural history, from 2008 to 2012. She co-curated the exhibition »Under Minerva’s Protection« in the Herzog August Library in Wolfenbüttel in 2012. She served in various roles for the Berlin Office of the Union of German Academies of Sciences and Humanities from 2013, with her most recent appointment being as a Research Associate on a Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF)-funded project that developed a concept for a digital infrastructure to improve the visibility and findability of research in the humanities and social sciences at European academies of science and humanities. She submitted her doctoral thesis on Georg Schweigger’s small-scale sculptures during the Thirty Years’ War to the University of Freiburg in August 2017.

As a Senior Officer in the Cluster Management, her responsibilities include supporting the committees and commissions, and communicating results and resolutions. She also compiles internal and external reports, organises the quality assurance process and provides support with strategic budget planning. In addition, she organises and oversees regular large-scale events in the Cluster.
